Tallahassee honored its native musician T-Pain with a street renamed in his honor and the Key to the City during a ceremony on November 10, 2024. Mayor John Dailey awarded the Grammy-winning artist, recognizing his contributions to the music industry and his commitment to the community. T-Pain, whose stage name references “Tallahassee Pain,” has been celebrated for elevating his hometown on the national music stage.
The renaming of Pasco Street to "T-Pain Lane" holds special significance as it is part of a route T-Pain frequently walked as a child, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Mayor Dailey shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Today, I had the incredible honor of presenting @TPain with the Key to the City... As a hometown hero, T-Pain has inspired countless fans and artists worldwide, and we’re proud to call him one of our own.”
Following the ceremony, T-Pain performed at Tallahassee’s bicentennial celebration at Adderley Amphitheater, treating attendees to a selection of his well-known tracks. Expressing gratitude, T-Pain told the crowd, “Everything that went on today was just a dream come true.”
The honors come just before T-Pain's scheduled performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, where he will join artists like Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Chlöe, and Dan + Shay. This parade appearance aligns with the event’s 98th anniversary, adding to T-Pain’s visibility in a landmark year for the artist and his hometown.
