Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has left passengers' luggage behind at Jeddah airport due to limited capacity on a flight.

Passengers on PIA flight PK 832, which arrived in Karachi, were left waiting and confused as their luggage was missing, Express News reported.

Many of the affected passengers were Umrah pilgrims. They expressed frustration upon arrival at Karachi airport, where they were informed that their luggage had been left behind in Jeddah.

The delay in the flight, which was two hours late, compounded the situation. Passengers have called on the Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Interior to take notice of PIA's incompetence.

A spokesperson for PIA explained that due to limited space on the aircraft, approximately 81 pieces of luggage had to be left behind at Jeddah airport. The airline assured that the missing luggage of around 40 passengers would be sent to Karachi on another flight shortly.

Overseas Pakistani entity offers over Rs125b for PIA acquisition

An overseas Pakistani group has proposed to acquire Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for over Rs125 billion, including a pledge to settle the airline's Rs250 billion debt.

The group, Al Nahang, has reportedly sent a formal offer via email to the ministers of privatisation, aviation, and defence, outlining its vision to revitalise PIA.

In addition to debt repayment, Al Nahang’s proposal promises not to lay off PIA employees and offers a phased plan to double salaries across 30 pay periods.

The group has also presented a comprehensive business plan, which includes adding modern aircraft to PIA’s fleet and developing the airline into a maintenance hub for other carriers.
