Young Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., recently called out Atlanta rappers who, he claims, failed to show genuine support for his son, especially during his recent 29-month incarceration.
Speaking on the 'Nothing But the Truth Podcast', Williams Sr. expressed frustration with the selective support from artists who he believes sought personal gain rather than standing up for Young Thug’s constitutional rights.
“We got all these rappers and everybody trying to find Young Thug,” Williams Sr. said in a candid moment caught by 'XXL'. “They wanna talk to Young Thug, they wanna this, that and the other. Where your a*s been for 29 months? Why y’all a*s ain’t been out there protesting for his constitutional rights being violated? Y’all are the ones considered to be the influencers. Ain’t influencing sh*t.”
Williams Sr.’s remarks sparked speculation among fans that he was specifically referring to T.I., though he didn’t name anyone directly.
He revealed that he had reached out to a fellow Atlanta rapper for an event supporting Young Thug’s record label, YSL, but received only a vague response.
“I asked him to do an event on behalf of YSL. And I was told, ‘Let me get with my people and see if I can do that,’” he shared. “But yet and still, I see you right there beside Young Thug. That’s when he needed the help. So, you know, we gotta stop with the fake.”
Following his release from jail, Young Thug was seen with T.I., who shared a video of the two together on social media.
In the clip, Young Thug is heard saying, “I’m back. I’m back, Jack. No cap in my rap. The right way!”
Despite the appearance of unity, Williams Sr.’s statements have left fans questioning the sincerity of the support shown by some Atlanta artists.
