The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a drop in temperatures across the country with mainly dry weather predicted in Sindh as well as Lahore and most parts of Punjab.

The Met Office noted that colder conditions are expected to persist, along with scattered rain in the Pothohar region on Monday.

As per a PMD release, continental air prevails over most parts of the country. A westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of the country, which will likely strengthen.

The weather is expected to remain mostly dry, except in northern regions where cloudy skies, light snowfall on higher altitudes, and rain are predicted.

However, rain and wind are likely in the Potohar region, Attock, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and Chakwal, Thunderstorms are also likely at isolated places.

During the past 24 hours, cities like Leh recorded a low of -2°C, while Qalat dropped to -3°C, the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) reported.

Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), and Kashmir are likely to experience further temperature drops, with continued rain and snowfall in the forecast.

Meanwhile, dense fog is expected to blanket several lowland areas, including parts of Punjab and KP.

On Monday (today), weather conditions are expected to remain mostly cloudy in GB, upper K-P, Kashmir, and Pothohar regions, with strong winds, thunder, and rain, along with light snowfall at higher altitudes.

In Northeastern Punjab, some places may experience thunder, light rain, and scattered showers during the evening and night.

Smog will continue to affect most of K-P's plains, as well as many areas in Punjab, where dense fog is anticipated during the night.

By Tuesday, dry weather is expected to prevail across the country, though the northern regions will see continued cloud cover and occasional light rain and snowfall on mountain peaks.

During the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Swat, where 15mm of rain was recorded, followed by Dera Ismail Khan and Kalama with 9mm and 8mm respectively.

Light rainfall was also observed in some parts of G-B.

Karachi, Sindh

In Sindh, most districts are forecasted to remain dry but fog is expected during the night in Sukkar, Larkana, Kashmore, Khairpur, and surrounding areas.

For Karachi, the Met Office has predicted that the city will experience hot and humid weather over the next 24 hours. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 23.5 degrees Celsius, with the maximum expected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius.

The PMD also predicted fog on Monday and Tuesday, with the department warning of reduced visibility as cool winds from Balochistan sweep across the city.

The humidity level in the air has been reported at a significant 88%, which may intensify the discomfort for residents.

A mix of sea and land breezes from Balochistan is expected to influence the city’s weather pattern, bringing cool winds and fog.

Last week, Karachi experienced warm weather, with temperatures reaching 38°C and humidity levels ranging from 40% to 60%.
