WATCH: Umar Lund claims killing Kacha bandit Shahid Lund, police assure protection

Alleged killer is seen embracing police officer, asking for water, receiving immediate accommodation from authorities.

A video obtained by Express News shows dacoit Umar Lund claiming to have killed Kacha bandit Shahid Lund, while meeting with Punjab police officers, who assured him of protection.

In the footage, Umar, who has a fearsome reputation in the Kacha area, is seen embracing a police officer, asking for water, and receiving immediate accommodation from the authorities.

Shahid Lund, the ringleader of the Lund gang operating in the Kacha area along the River Indus, and a social media figure with a bounty of Rs10 million on his head, was killed on Friday i=during a joint operation by Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur police.

In his conversation with police, Umar describes the killing, stating he fired a full burst from his rifle at Shahid.

"My rifle jammed, or else Amin and Wahab would have been killed too," he says in the video, explaining that he had even cooked for Shahid’s event earlier that evening to avoid raising suspicion."My clothes are full of bullets, I have received phonecalls from Shahid's people but i haven't been responding," Umar added.

Expressing concerns for his family's safety, Umar says, "I have young, innocent children. Shahid’s community is ruthless, and I fear they’ll attack my home."

As officers try to handle his belongings, Umar is seen requesting, "Let my things stay with me, Chaudhry Sahib," and the police official assures him of full protection.

Umar Lund was apprently planted in Shahid Lund's outfit and he carried out the killing during the police operation, according to Express news.

On Friday, Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar described Lund’s killing as a significant achievement, underscoring the police’s commitment to eradicating criminal gangs and terrorist threats from the region.

Locals from Bangla Ichha, where Shahid Lund’s gang had gathered reportedly to settle internal disputes, claim that Lund was killed by his close relative, Umar Lund, following a verbal altercation. They had further alleged that Umar was subsequently killed by Shahid's associates.

A Punjab police statement confirmed Shahid Lund was wanted in 28 cases, including the murders of police officers, armed robberies, kidnappings for ransom, and acts of terrorism across the Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur districts.

Known as a top dacoit, Lund had amassed a large following on TikTok and YouTube, enhancing his notoriety.

IGP Anwar remarked that Shahid Lund posed a “constant threat” to the residents of Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur districts. “This operation was carried out after meticulous planning, as police have been preparing for this day over the past two months,” he added.
