In response to recent robberies, security has been heightened in Islamabad, with police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel deployed outside banks. Two cash thefts occurred yesterday at banks in G-9 and G-14 sectors.

Banks have been instructed to change their security guards, while police checkpoints have been established at various points throughout the city.

Special checkpoints have been set up around the G-9 center, where individuals wearing helmets from motorcycle service companies are being specifically searched.

Bags of suspicious individuals are also being checked. The police presence has been increased at Zero Point in Islamabad as well.

On the other hand, a murder case has been registered in Islamabad after a citizen was killed during the robbery of a bank cash van. The case was filed at the Karachi Company police station by the cousin of the deceased.

Daylight robberies result in one death and seven injuries

Earlier a man was killed and seven others wounded in two daylight bank robberies in the federal capital. In addition, residents experienced 26 separate incidents of street crime and theft, with local police yet to apprehend any suspects.

The first robbery took place at the National Bank on Peshawar Mor, where a motorcyclist opened fire at security guards, injuring three Ziaul Haq, Salimullah, and Qasim Shah—as well as three hotel employees nearby.

Tragically, one hotel staff member, Mir Haider, later died from his injuries, while Nazirullah and Nadeem were also hurt.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant, wearing a helmet and armed with a Kalashnikov, fled the scene with a bag of cash.

In a separate incident, robbers targeted the Allied Bank in G-14, injuring security guard Fazal and making off with millions of rupees.
