Woman killed, five injured in fight at 'langar' distribution

The incident took place within the limits of Telhar police station.

One woman was killed and five, including three women, were injured in an altercation between women during the annual communal prayer and free food distribution ceremony knwon as langar at Miyo Makkok Goth. The police arrested six people including four women.

The incident took place within the limits of Telhar police station. The women, belonging to Lund and Junejo community, got into a heated argument which escalated into a physical clash quickly, kicking and punching each other, during which 45-year-old Basra Junejo died on the spot, while five others were injured. Police shifted the body of the woman and the injured women to Telhar Hospital. Meanwhile, police arrested six people. It was learned from sources that the local dignitaries and the organisers of the programme are trying to resolve the matter.

Family protests death in toxic sewer

The family members and relatives of the labourer Emmanuel who died while cleaning the sewerage line at New Sabzi Mandi Hala Naka, staged a protest and chanted slogans against the contractor in front of the Hyderabad Press Club. His wife claimed that the sewer was filled with poisonous gas and Emmanuel had refused to go down, but the contractor forced him to do so without any safety kit. Due to the toxic gas, Emmanuel, a father of five and the sole breadwinner of his family, suffocated to death.
