Lil Durk’s recent arrest has sparked widespread online reactions, with the hashtag #FreeDurk quickly trending as fans voice their support for the Chicago rapper.

Yet, Charleston White, a frequent voice of critique within hip-hop, expressed little sympathy for Durk, taking the opportunity to comment on what he views as a double standard. White shared his perspective on social media, where he remarked, “Ain’t nobody laughing at Durk like they were laughing at me when I went to jail.”

In his response, White suggested that popular sympathy differs based on celebrity status. “It’s all love when it’s your ‘favorite rapper,’ but it’s open season on everybody else,” he continued, pointing out the divide between fan support and the criticism he says he endured during his own legal troubles. White even touched on the potential reality Durk might face, noting, “That na got a federal no bond; I bet that na’s a**hole done closed up,” in reference to the severe conditions of federal holding.

Charleston White went further, hinting that Durk might require protective custody given his high-profile status. He explained that California’s prison system is often challenging for those with public influence, and high-profile inmates are frequently at risk of extortion. To cap off his remarks, White played J. Cole and Durk’s song “All My Life,” in a move that fans saw as ironic. White’s statements have stirred conversations among fans and critics alike, adding a different dimension to the ongoing discussions surrounding Durk’s legal battle.
