Chicago rapper Lil Durk was arrested in Florida on October 24, facing serious murder-for-hire charges.

According to federal documents, Durk’s arrest follows the recent detainment of five alleged affiliates of his hip-hop group, Only the Family (OTF), who are accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire scheme linked to the 2022 death of Saviay’a "Lul Pab" Robinson, the cousin of rapper Quando Rondo. Authorities believe Rondo was the intended target of the alleged plot, reportedly planned as retaliation for the 2020 death of King Von, a close friend of Lil Durk.

Shortly after Durk’s arrest, a central figure emerged in the case: OTF member Jam, who, as revealed in court documents, reportedly cooperated with law enforcement by wearing a hidden wire for several years, gathering evidence that allegedly implicates Durk.

Jam, released from prison in 2022 after serving 12 years for attempted murder, reportedly provided information directly linking Durk to the murder-for-hire plot targeting Rondo. This apparent betrayal within OTF has drawn significant attention, as Jam’s covert role has sparked widespread speculation and debate within the hip-hop community.

Amid Lil Durk's arrest, a 2023 interview with OTF Jam has resurfaced. In the interview with DJ Jerry, Jam opened up about his long-standing relationship with Durk and the support he received while incarcerated. “I remember Durk was making rap songs for our parties,” Jam reminisced, describing how Durk’s music became a fixture in their community gatherings.

“That was bro… back before the fame and the money… he made a way for me to be straight.” Jam recounted how Durk’s music became a source of motivation and connection during his 12-year prison sentence. While Jam did not address his alleged cooperation with authorities, his reflections revealed the deep bond he shared with Durk before legal troubles separated them.

Prior to his arrest, Lil Durk updated fans about his upcoming album, ‘Deep Thoughts,’ announcing a revised release date of November 22. This delay followed confusion surrounding a leaked tracklist for a different project, ‘Love Songs 4 the Streets 3.’ Durk’s legal issues have now cast doubt on the album’s release, leaving fans uncertain about its future.

Meanwhile, the rapper’s recent recognition in Chicago has taken an unexpected turn. Durk was honored with the keys to the Chicago villages of Broadview and Bellwood on October 18, with Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson initially celebrating his contributions to the community.

However, on October 25, Thompson announced the village’s withdrawal of the key and termination of the partnership with Durk’s charitable foundation, citing his legal challenges. This decision, announced via Facebook, has added to the turmoil surrounding Durk as he navigates his current legal battles.
