Liam Payne, former One Direction member, had several substances, including "pink cocaine," in his body when he died on October 16, 2024, after falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to ABC News, a partial autopsy revealed that Payne had ingested multiple substances, and an "improvised aluminum pipe" was found in his hotel room.
One of the drugs identified in his system, "pink cocaine," typically contains methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA, and not necessarily cocaine, per the National Capital Poison Center.
Payne was staying at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel for three days before his death. According to local sources, a hotel employee named Esteban called emergency services shortly before the incident, expressing concern that Payne appeared intoxicated and was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The employee stated, "We're afraid he could do something that threatens his life," according to a transcript translated by the BBC.
The British singer's body will remain in Argentina until the autopsy is completed, as reported by ABC News. Payne, known for his solo career after his time in One Direction, was 31 at the time of his death.
