Martha Stewart, the renowned businesswoman and author, recently shared candid details about her secret extramarital affair during an interview with American businessman Lee Brian Schrager.

The revelation came during the 'Martha Stewart's 100th Book Party Celebration' on October 16, while promoting her upcoming cookbook.

However, the conversation veered off-topic when Schrager asked Stewart about her affair, saying, "If you‘re looking for ideas [for a 101st book], maybe you could talk about how you [had] an affair that happened 30 years ago and you kept it a secret. How is that possible?"

Stewart, unfazed by the question, responded directly: "Very easy. You have to be circumspect." The 83-year-old shared her thoughts on her past, admitting it was relatively simple to keep her affair hidden from her former husband, Andrew Stewart, to whom she was married from 1961 to 1990.

In a similar discussion, Stewart also reflected on her marriage in the trailer for her upcoming 'Martha' documentary.

In the clip, she advised, "Young women, listen to my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s***. Get out of that marriage."

When asked by a producer off-camera about her own affair, Stewart openly acknowledged, "Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that."

Martha Stewart and Andrew Stewart, who married in 1961 when Martha was 19 and Andrew was a 23-year-old Yale law student, share a daughter, Alexis, now 59.

While Martha never remarried after their divorce in 1990, Andrew went on to marry Martha’s former assistant, Robyn Fairclough, before marrying his current wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart.

Reflecting on her divorce, Martha shared her feelings with 'People' in 2020, calling the experience a "terrible thing."

She said, "Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me, because we were the first to divorce in my family. And that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life."
