The France International Javelin Club held its first-ever historic javelin competition in Long Villiers, Paris. Organised by Dr Azhar, the event attracted more than 36 players from four javelin clubs, including six French and ten British competitors.
The competition took place in the scenic polo grounds of France, with teams from Chaudhry Sajjad Mainwal's Pak Gujarstar Club, Chaudhry Afzal Langah's MBD Rider Club, and Chaudhry Ashraf Arif's Royal Javelin Club competing fiercely.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Paris, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, served as the chief guest and praised the players' outstanding performances. “Such activities make us proud as Pakistanis, particularly when we are away from our homeland. Events like these also help to strengthen national unity abroad,” said the ambassador.
The judging panel included Sufi Muhammad Arif Golvi, Chaudhry Liaquat Sher Ismaila, and Chaudhry Altaf. Spectators, including a large number of Pakistani and French citizens, enthusiastically cheered on the athletes throughout the event.
Mian Bilal Bernali, a British player from the Royal Club, claimed the first prize, followed by Dr Azhar Iqbal in second place and Qasim Altaf of Gujjar Club in third.
Zahid Hashmi, President of the International Kashmir Peace Forum (IKPF) Europe and a notable guest, lauded the organisers. "These competitions not only showcase our talent but also keep our younger generation engaged with this thrilling sport," he said, encouraging more events like this to nurture new talent.
Awards and shields were later presented to the participants in recognition of their excellent performances.
