RAWALPINDI:

The intensification of dengue fever has almost paralysed regular operations at government offices in the Rawalpindi district due to the participation of government officials and employees of various departments and agencies in the anti-dengue campaign.

As a result of the absence of officials and employees in the offices, citizens are returning home after making futile visits to these offices.

Sources say hours of lengthy meetings are taking place on the anti-dengue campaign involving federal and provincial ministers, lawmakers, and district administration. The practice has resulted in the absence of responsible officers from their departments such as the Municipal Corporation, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Wasa, PHA, RWMC, health, education and building departments.

Subordinate staff is also found missing due to the absence of their superiors. Citizens visiting these offices are told that the officials are in dengue meetings.

Government officers and officials are seen spending duty hours under the pretext of leaving for dengue meetings, dengue walks, dengue review meetings, ministerial meetings, and deputy commissioner's meetings.
