Laval reports fifth homicide of 2024 as shooting victim dies near shopping mall

The Laval Police Department has confirmed a fifth homicide for 2024 following the death of a 28-year-old man who was shot on Thursday afternoon near the Carrefour Laval shopping mall. 

Police received a 911 call just after 5 p.m. regarding the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Daniel-Johnson and Carrefour boulevards, directly across from the shopping centre. The victim was reportedly standing next to his black Ford Mustang SUV in a parking lot when he suffered at least two gunshot wounds.

Authorities rushed the man to hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. 

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. This incident marks a concerning milestone for Laval, as it is the city's fifth homicide since the beginning of the year.
