RAWALPINDI:

The Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle in Rawalpindi has launched a crackdown on a honey-trapping and blackmailing gang, resulting in the arrest of three members involved in the scheme.

The suspects lured victims through social media using fake female Facebook profiles. The gang, which includes over 20 members, primarily consists of women who trap unsuspecting individuals.

According to officials, the FIA Cyber Crime team conducted a raid in Multan based on comprehensive intelligence, apprehending three suspects: Sohail Ahmed, Muhammad Hafeez and Muhammad Faizan. These individuals allegedly obtained unethical images and videos of their victims through honey trapping and then blackmailed them for large sums of money, which were transferred to various accounts.

The suspects had created multiple fake Facebook accounts to ensnare their victims. Authorities seized mobile phones, several checkbooks, ATM cards, and three vehicles from the suspects. Officials revealed that the gang comprises over 20 members, including women who play a key role in deceiving naive citizens.

The arrested individuals are currently under investigation, and efforts are underway to gather records related to the victims from their mobile devices.
