SHC summons medical university VCs over irregularities in MDCAT results

Sindh High Court seeks consultation with educational boards for a transparent MDCAT mechanism amid corruption fears.

The Sindh High Court has summoned the vice-chancellors (VCs) of all medical universities across Sindh following allegations of irregularities in the results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).

The court was hearing a petition against the purported inconsistencies in the examination process, a local news channel reported.

During the proceedings, the court raised concerns about the MDCAT mechanism, stating that it provides opportunities for corruption and illegal activities.

In response, the court has directed consultations with the Aga Khan Board and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to explore whether these institutions could administer the MDCAT to ensure greater transparency.

In addition to summoning the VCs, the court has requested the records of students who scored over 190 marks in the test.

The Chief Secretary of Sindh, the Secretary of Health, the Secretary of Boards and Universities, and the President of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), Dr. Rizwan Taj, have also been summoned. The court has adjourned the hearing until October 9.

Few days ago, Dow University announced MDCAT 2024 results.
