Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee praises team's brilliant show in UK event

Pakistan's long-range rifle team that recently won multiple medals at the prestigious European Long-Range Rifle Championship 2024, were honoured by General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

In a special meeting at his office, General Mirza praised the team's dedication, discipline, and the pride they brought to Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of supporting such talented athletes to further elevate Pakistan's status in global sports.

Under the strategic leadership of Lieutenant General Ahsan Gulrez, the team not only earned a bronze medal in the team category but also amassed an impressive 11 individual medals across various events.

The team's stellar performance at the European F-Class Championship's Rutland Cup was a highlight of their campaign. Competing against 22 teams from nine countries, Pakistan Green secured the bronze medal with an impressive score of 589 out of 600, marking their second consecutive podium finish in this prestigious event.

The championship also saw individual brilliance, with Mansoor Ahmad earning a silver medal in the 900-yard event, Lt. Col. Junaid Ali securing bronze at 1000 yards, and Lt. Col. (Retd.) Junaid Khattak and Mohsin Nawaz both claiming bronzes in their respective events. Khattak later won gold in the aggregate match (900+1000 yards), while Mohsin Nawaz took silver, and Ahmad Javed triumphed with two golds in the aggregate match (800+900+1000 yards) and the 1000-yard event.

The European shooting championship 2024 at Bisley, United Kingdom, also marked a significant milestone for Nawaz, as he secured his 10th international long-range shooting medal.
