Pakistan Railways Police rescued three minor girls from Dera Ghazi Khan after foiling their plan to travel to South Africa in pursuit of a better future, and reunited them with their families.

The girls aged 14 were cousins. They had left their homes with the intention of going to South Africa via Karachi, but were intercepted at the Lahore Railway Station.

According to officials, then girls had travelled from Dera Ghazi Khan to Lahore by bus. Duty Constable Shah Nawaz found the girls at the main porch of Lahore Railway Station, where they appeared abandoned and in distress. Upon being taken into protective custody, they revealed that they had left their homes in hopes of securing a brighter future abroad, a spokesperson said.
