KARACHI:

In a brazen act to steal the pipeline of the long delayed water supply project, K-IV, a well organised gang deployed excavators and heavy machinery only to be caught in the act.

The Steel Town police on Friday foiled an attempt to steal the K-IV project pipeline. The project was meant to supply 250 million gallons per day water to the city, however, it was facing delays for last many years.

During the operation, the police took 15 suspects into custody and recovered equipment, including two excavators, eight gas cutters, and heavy iron sheets.

According to Malir district SSP, the suspects, who were labourers hired by the main suspect Aman Khan, initially claimed ignorance about the pipeline's ownership. They claimed that Aman had told them that the pipeline was no longer in use due to soil issues and needed to be removed.
