Squatters occupy hospital land

Local philanthropists had secured a piece of land measuring 1.5acres for a veterinary hospital

MATLI:

The land mafia in Matli has reportedly encroached upon land reserved for veterinary hospital and a children park, constructing houses and shops on it.

Local philanthropists had secured a piece of land measuring 1.5acres for a veterinary hospital before the creation of Pakistan. They later entrusted the land to local government board to develop a hospital care facility for animals.

However, due to neglect and inadequate maintenance, the land has been gradually occupied, and permanent illegal structures have been erected in its place. A plan to construct a park on the remaining land, initiated by former Deputy Commissioner and Administrator of District Council Badin, Agha Shahnawaz Durrani, and former Provincial Advisor, Tanzeela Qambrani, was also stalled.
