PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government continued with the verbal onslaught against institutions and their policies in the provincial assembly session; seemingly for the sake of formality, as the rhetoric has been continuing for two weeks

The assembly session, chaired by Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi, started with a three-and-a-half-hour delay.

The session began with the recitation of the Quran, after which government members took turns at the mic, hurling accusations at the institutions and their policies.

Government member Akhtar Khan stated that in a civilised society, where the rule of law prevails, those who raise their voices for their rights are not targeted.

"Unfortunately, the incidents currently happening in Swat were predicted by our colleague Murad Saeed back in 2022. This is why he has had to go into hiding; a deliberate conspiracy is being executed to create unrest in Swat," Akhtar stated.

He asked that If the DC, DPO, and intelligence agencies had no idea about the presence of militants, where did these terrorists come from? "If terrorists are in the mountains, did they arrive by helicopter?' he quipped.

The MPA He mentioned that on the 27th, the people will again take to the streets in Swat for a peace march.

"The PTI will be at the forefront of this march. Unfortunately, while the world has moved on, we are asking for peace in 2024."
