A fire erupted in a building near Empress Market in Karachi's Saddar area.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze that had engulfed Noman Centre, sending large plumes of smoke into the air.

Initial reports said that the fire was caused by the short-circuiting of electrical wires.

There were no reports of injuries.

"The fire has been completely brought under control, and it's just smoke now, so there's no cause for concern," Station Officer Saddar KMC Fire Brigade, Mohammad Abrar Sheikh told Express News.

He added that, "Reports indicate that one rickshaw, three cars, and a bike have been burned. The fire brigade faced difficulty reaching the blaze due to blocked passage ways and heavy smoke on the path."
