The horror-comedy Stree 2 has become the first Hindi film to join the prestigious 600-crore club at the domestic box office, according to its production house Maddock Films.

Directed by Amar Kaushik and penned by Niren Bhatt, Stree 2 stars Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles.

Released on August 15, the film has earned widespread acclaim so far.

It is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree and part of Maddock Films’ growing horror universe, which also includes titles like Bhediya and Munjya. Fans and critics alike have praised the film, with many considering it an improvement over the original.

The film has consistently performed at the box office, making waves in the box office during its first five weeks, and continued its strong showing during the sixth weekend.

With an overall total of close to 600 crore, Stree 2 is now just shy of surpassing the record set by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.

Stree 2 needs only a few more days to overtake Jawan and claim the title of the biggest Hindi film of all time. If it crosses it above 600 crore, it will break into the top five highest-grossing Indian films in history. Alongside Kapoor and Rao, the film features performances by Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, with special appearances by Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Varun Dhawan.

Maddock Films has already confirmed that Stree 3 is in the works, with the story ready to go for the next installment in the franchise.
