Media is a powerful tool for change, and we can leverage our reach to deliver essential health information to every household, said Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Director General Muhammad Tahir at a symposium organised at a local hotel on Friday.
The symposium was jointly organised by PEMRA and the Pakistan Deworming Initiative to highlight the media's crucial role in combating intestinal worm infections among children. The event brought together representatives from health, education, and media sectors to raise awareness about the impact of worm-related diseases affecting millions of school-aged children across the country.
Since 2020, PEMRA has supported this initiative, ensuring the dissemination of deworming campaign messages through various media channels, including cable networks and digital platforms. "These efforts have successfully mobilised communities nationwide to engage in deworming programs," the PEMRA official said.
