Zach Bryan claims Kanye West is better than Taylor Swift, apologizes and deactivates X account
Zach Bryan has temporarily deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account following the uproar caused by a tweet comparing Kanye West and Taylor Swift.
On Tuesday night, the country star tweeted, "eagles > chiefs" followed by the controversial "Kanye > Taylor... Who’s with me?" The post quickly drew backlash from Swift’s fans, leading Bryan to deactivate his account after issuing an apology.
"Guys I love Taylor," Bryan said in a follow-up tweet, explaining that he was listening to The Tortured Poets Department’s song “Thank You Aimee” when he drunkenly tweeted about Kanye.
"If anyone took it serious please know I love both artists a lot and think we’re in a really beautiful time of music."

Despite deactivating his X account, Bryan remained active on Instagram, where he shared several Kanye West songs in his Stories.
However, this isn't the first time Bryan has shown support for Swift. In late 2022, he praised her album 'Midnights' and revealed that “August” was his favorite song from her catalog.
Earlier this week, Bryan also stirred controversy for suggesting artists should not prioritize politics over music, which many fans viewed as a veiled critique of Swift’s political endorsements.
Meanwhile, both Bryan and Swift maintain top 10 spots on the Billboard 200, with 'The Tortured Poets Department' and 'The Great American Bar Scene' continuing to perform well.
