The district administration has officially ended the flood emergency and closed flood relief camps and control rooms in Rawalpindi.
The authorities have declared that the risk of flooding in Nullah Leh and 15 seasonal streams has been eliminated for the time being.
With the conclusion of the flood season, all relevant personnel from Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, police, Special Branch, education, and health departments have been returned to their regular duties, and military operations have also been suspended.
In the event of future rainfall, WASA, the Solid Waste Management Company, and the Municipal Corporation will continue their regular functions.
Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema has instructed all agencies to develop a new flood rescue plan by January 31, 2025, to mitigate future flood damage. Following the end of the flood season and the change in weather, residents displaced from Nullah Leh, the 15 seasonal streams, and low-lying areas have begun returning to their homes.
As a result, many shops and markets in these areas have reopened, and clean-up efforts in the streets have commenced, restoring normalcy to the community.
