Tito Jackson, Jackson 5 icon, dies at 70 on road trip from New Mexico to Oklahoma
The entertainment industry was shaken by the news of Tito Jackson's death at the age of 70. The elder brother of Michael Jackson and a key member of the Jackson 5, Tito died while traveling from New Mexico to Oklahoma, as confirmed by a former family manager to Entertainment Tonight.
The cause of death is suspected to be a heart attack, though official statements from the police or family have not yet been made.
Tito Jackson's legacy includes his recent European tour stops in Scotland and England with his brothers, Jackie and Marlon, celebrating their hits and honoring Michael at a memorial in Germany.
The group, renowned for their 1970s chart-toppers such as "ABC," "I Want You Back," and "I'll Be There," was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
Amidst tributes, a heartfelt message from Tito's nephew highlighted the family's grief: "I’m stunned and devastated to receive and hear this disheartening news. I love Tito like my brothers of blood relation. I’m stunned and dismayed. May God and Jesus Christ receive his soul and spirit with open outstretched arms and welcome him into Heaven’s gate…this is my most sincere prayer this night, this day, this month, and now….this year. I’m at a loss of spirits."
Further adding to the condolences, Questlove expressed his sorrow, stating, "All of the Jackson brothers are heroes to me. I really don’t have the words right now. May the entire Jackson family find comfort & peace in this moment. Thank You, Tito."
In his final days, Tito reflected on the legacy of his brother Michael, lamenting the hardships he faced and his untimely death in 2009.
He maintained close relationships with Michael's children, Prince, Paris, and Bigi, often visiting them in Los Angeles.
