Paris St Germain returned to the top of Ligue 1 with a 3-1 victory over Brest at home, thanks to two goals from Ousmane Dembele and a stunning strike from Fabian Ruiz on Saturday.
Fabian and Dembele scored within 80 seconds late in the second half, helping PSG, the reigning champions, secure 12 points from four matches, two points ahead of Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, who both won earlier the same day.
"Brest are a strong side with talented players. It's always challenging to play against them. It's great to win in front of our fans," PSG coach Luis Enrique told DAZN. "We work on this every day, and it’s a pleasure to see the team perform. At half-time, I told them they were playing well and not to focus on the score—just to keep going."
Brest took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Romain Del Castillo converted a penalty following a foul by Nuno Mendes on Ludovic Ajorque. PSG equalised in the 42nd minute when an unmarked Dembele headed in a precise cross from Marco Asensio.
Fabian then put PSG ahead in the 73rd minute with a brilliant long-range effort, before Dembele secured the win moments later by scoring his second after capitalising on a loose ball during a counter-attack.
"I hope to continue playing well, be consistent, and help PSG win," said Dembele, 27. "It was important to win since the other title contenders also won. We needed to be leaders at the end of the day and prepare well for the Champions League. Now we have eight exciting matches ahead of us."
