The fire broke out near Bagh-e-Jibran, in a building situated on a hilltop

Five people died in a fire at a residence for devotees of a shrine in the Rustam area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rescue officials said.

The fire broke out near Bagh-e-Jibran, in a building on a hilltop, for reasons yet to be determined. Rescue teams and firefighters managed to contain the blaze and retrieved the bodies from the scene, later transferring them to a local hospital.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway.

Yesterday, SSP Korangi Tohidur Rahman, taking strict notice of the fire incident that occurred due to an illegal fuel station set up in a residential building in the Shah Faisal Colony No3, suspended SHO Shah Faisal Colony, Inspector Gul Hasan Kalhoro, and sent him to the police headquarters East district.

Action has been taken against Kalhoro for his negligence, which caused a fire and huge losses of properties and lives.

The SSP also ordered an inquiry against the SHO and appointed Yaseen Gujjar, the director of the SSP Complaint Cell, as the inquiry officer. He was asked to submit the inquiry report within three days.

It may be recalled that a terrible fire incident took place in an illegally set up filling station in Shah Faisal Colony No3, in which a citizen was burnt to death while several flats, shops in the building and motorcycles parked outside were destroyed.
