In a tragic incident on August 19, thirteen members of a single family from Khairpur died under suspicious circumstances, with initial findings pointing to poisoned milk as the likely cause.
The Chemical Laboratory Sukkur in Rohri confirmed on Friday that toxic substances, including insecticide and benzodiazepine, were present in the deceased.
The incident unfolded in the village of Haibat Khan Brohi near Pir Goth. Among the victims were Gul Baig Brohi, his wife, their five sons, three daughters, and other family members.
The chemical analysis has confirmed that their deaths were due to poisoning, as indicated by the presence of harmful chemicals and narcotics in their bodies.
Khairpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dr Samiullah Soomro, who is leading the investigation, stated that the police are rigorously examining all aspects of the case. “We are treating this case with the utmost seriousness given the loss of innocent lives, including children. We are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that those responsible are held accountable,” SSP Soomro said.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the truth behind this devastating event. SSP Soomro stated that the inquiry will be thorough, and any individuals found responsible will face stringent legal consequences.
