Punjab CTD conducts 475 IBOs in crackdown on terror networks

Explosives, weapons, and suicide vests were seized in Punjab as CTD arrested 33 terrorists in IBOs

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has conducted 475 intelligence-based operations across various cities in the province, resulting in the arrest of 33 terrorists.

The arrested terrorists were reportedly planning to launch attacks aimed at spreading fear and chaos among the public.

These operations were carried out in cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Nankana Sahib, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bhakkar, according to a CTD spokesperson

Among the arrests, a dangerous militant from the banned group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar was apprehended in Lahore.

During the raids, the CTD seized a significant cache of explosives, including a suicide vest, two hand grenades, 26 detonators, ammunition, mobile phones, and cash. These items were believed to be intended for use in terrorist activities across the province.

The CTD has reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region, with the spokesperson stating, “We are determined to uproot the menace of terrorism from its core.”

Previously in a series of operations launched by CTD in August, a key operative of the Daesh terrorist group was apprehended in Faisalabad along with two other terrorists who were identified as Abdul Wahab, Saifullah, and Khurram Abbas.

In another series of 152 intelligence-based operations conducted in June by CTD, 22 men suspected of being linked with banned organizations were arrested during operations.
