Lily Collins explains split release of ‘Emily in Paris’ season 4 and filming challenges

Lily Collins opens up about how the winter filming schedule shaped performances in Emily in Paris season 4.

Lily Collins has revealed the real reason behind the split release of Emily in Paris season 4, explaining how the show’s winter filming schedule impacted both the cast's performances and the production. The first five episodes have already been released, with the remaining five set to drop on 12 September.

In an interview with Deadline, Collins, who plays the lead role of Emily, shared that the winter shooting schedule created new challenges for the cast. This season marked the first time they filmed in fall and winter, requiring them to work out of sequence in some episodes.

"We got to go to the mountains and have snow," Collins said. "We needed to make sure we had the best snowfall. So certain episodes in the second drop were actually filmed before finishing the first."

Filming scenes out of order added complexity to the production, as the cast was unsure of how the season would end. "We were navigating it as the characters were," Collins noted, explaining that the uncertainty kept the cast on their toes and made the filming process more exciting.

Despite the difficulties, Collins embraced the split release, saying it gave the team the chance to emphasise the characters’ decisions and how they shift throughout the story. "It makes it really fun," she added, highlighting how the unpredictable storyline kept everyone engaged.

As Emily in Paris returns with the rest of season 4, fans can expect even more drama as the characters' choices take unexpected turns in the final episodes.
