RAWALPINDI:

Three men, including a woman's ex-husband, were arrested after allegedly throwing acid on her in an attack on Zafarul Haq Road, within the Waris Khan police station's jurisdiction.

The police have registered a case against the woman's husband and two brothers-in-law.

The incident occurred when Azra Bibi, who divorced her husband Muhammad Shakeel earlier this month, was attacked by her former brothers-in-law, Adeel and Khalil. According to Azra, she was in a rickshaw with a friend when the men stopped their motorcycle and threw acid on her face and hand, causing severe burns and rendering her unconscious. She was taken to the hospital by the rickshaw driver and family members.

According to the police, Azra had divorced Shakeel after enduring years of abuse, and she claimed that both her ex-husband and his brothers had been threatening her since the separation.

CPO Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani, took notice of the incident and ordered immediate legal action. Waris Khan police arrested Shakeel, Adeel, and Khalil. The investigation is being supervised by SSP Investigation, Saba Sattar, who assured that justice would be served and the case handled on merit.
