Tim Walz's family members endorse Donald Trump, oppose VP candidacy

Some family members of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have endorsed Donald Trump and criticized his candidacy.

Some family members of Minnesota Governor and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz have publicly shown their support for Donald Trump, according to an image shared by former Nebraska Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster. The photo shows eight individuals wearing "Walz's for Trump" T-shirts. Herbster posted the image on X, writing, "Tim Walz's family back in Nebraska wants you to know something" (source: Charles W. The individuals in the photo are reportedly related to Walz through his grandfather’s brother, Francis Walz. One of the family members in the picture, who wished to remain anonymous, explained their support for Trump, stating, "He supports our values" (source: Fox News Digital, September 4, 2024). The relatives also emphasized they are "distant" from the Minnesota governor and have never met or spoken with him.

Jeff Walz, Tim Walz's older brother, also criticized his sibling’s political stance, saying, "I'm 100% opposed to all his ideology," in a Facebook post (source: Jeff Walz, Facebook, September 1, 2024). He further expressed his disappointment at not receiving prior notice about his brother’s vice-presidential candidacy.
