Anna Delvey, the infamous con artist who posed as a German heiress to scam socialites, hotels, and banks out of $250,000, has been confirmed as a contestant on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Delvey, who is currently under house arrest, was sentenced to nearly four years in prison and later detained by ICE for overstaying her visa. Despite this, she continues to make headlines, and her participation in the popular dance competition has ignited mixed reactions.

The news was announced on Wednesday, with Delvey joining the show's lineup, which includes athletes like retired NFL player Danny Amendola and Olympians Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik. In the promotional materials for Dancing with the Stars, Delvey is seen wearing a glamorous gold dress and visibly flaunting her ankle monitor, a reminder of her house arrest.

ABC’s press release described her as “an artist, fashion icon, and infamous NYC socialite,” downplaying her criminal history. Delvey herself acknowledged her past mistakes, telling CNN in 2022, "I feel like I deserve a second chance, it was my mistake that I made and I served my time".

Since her release, Delvey has pursued various ventures, including art sales, dinner parties, and even hosting a podcast. However, her participation in Dancing with the Stars has raised eyebrows, with critics questioning why she remains in the public eye despite her criminal past.
