Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has opened up after team's recent 2-0 Test series loss to Bangladesh on Tuesday. Speaking in the post-match presser, Masood acknowledged the disappointment and emphasized the need for improvement in Pakistan cricket.

"We apologize to the nation. Our common goal should be to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket," Masood said.

Masood stressed the importance of experience in Test cricket, noting, "We need more experienced players in the Test format. I am very grateful that the selectors and all of us look at the playing XIs and selectors through a democratic lens."

Reflecting on the second Test's critical moments, Masood commented, "Unfortunately, Khurram wasn't completely available today. I think we lost the game when Bangladesh recovered from 26/6. We could have taken one more wicket there. Mir Hamza bowled tirelessly and covered the workload of an extra fast bowler."

He also addressed the challenges of long breaks between Test matches.

"In red-ball cricket, you cannot take any opposition lightly. Also, a ten-month break between Test matches is not doing any favour. I think we should be playing Test matches without this much break," he further added. Looking ahead, Masood emphasized the need for continuity in red-ball cricket.

"Going forward, I think we should prioritize players that are actively playing red-ball cricket," he concluded.

Coach Gillespie stands by Shan

Pakistan red-ball coach, Jason Gillespie has come forward to offer his support to Pakistan's captain, Shan Masood, following team's disappointing 2-0 Test series loss to Bangladesh.

Speaking after the match, Gillespie acknowledged Masood's leadership amidst the team's struggles and emphasized the need for improvement.

"Shan I feel has led the side very well. We just haven't played well as a team and that's the reality," Gillespie said.

The series saw Pakistan's home Test woes continue, with Bangladesh completing a historic whitewash. Pakistan's recent performances have highlighted ongoing issues, including inconsistent team play and a lack of cohesion.

Gillespie addressed these concerns directly.

"We need to sharpen up on certain areas, and we will sharpen up. I really want to back and believe in these players, they are good enough and have shown glimpses of how good we are. We just need to do it more often and consistently," he further added.
