Angelina Jolie made it clear that she set "firm boundaries" and refused to discuss her divorce from Brad Pitt in a recent interview.
Although it's been eight years since the end of Brangelina, Jolie is still adjusting to what she feels comfortable sharing about the split.
“You could have this messy private process and the work spoke,” Jolie said of “old Hollywood” during a mid-August interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Now, the audience’s relationship is different.”
During the interview, which took place at the 49-year-old actress's Los Angeles home, Jolie was asked if she would be open to discussing the details of her contentious divorce from Pitt, but she remained firm in her stance.
“No,” she said to the reporter. Jolie and Pitt were married in 2014, and she filed for divorce from the 60-year-old actor in 2016. Even after eight years, their divorce proceedings are still ongoing.
However, the mother of six did reveal that the only reason she remains in Los Angeles is because of her divorce from Pitt.
“I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” Jolie said, referencing their children. “When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety.”
Jolie, who shares six children with Pitt – Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, along with twins Knox and Vivienne, 16 – also mentioned that Los Angeles no longer holds the same meaning for her as it once did.
“I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here,” she confessed.
