More heavy rain expected in Karachi as monsoon system hits Sindh

Rains are expected across Sindh, with 300-400 mm in Thatta and Badin, and 150-200 mm in Karachi.

The Meteorological Department has forecasted that rain may persist in Karachi today, contributing to pleasant weather in the city.

During the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall recorded was 62 mm in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, followed by 44 mm in Bin Qasim, 29 mm in Qaidabad, 19 mm in Surjani, 18 mm in Korangi, and 17 mm on University Road.

The current weather system is expected to enter the Arabian Sea by the morning of August 29, potentially intensifying further.

Following this, the system is likely to move southwest of Karachi, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to the city, with a possibility of severe flooding at sea.

The powerful monsoon winds are expected to cause stormy rains across Sindh, with forecasts predicting 300 to 400 mm of rain in Thatta and Badin, and 150 to 200 mm in Karachi.

As the system approaches, rainfall is expected to intensify, with stormy conditions anticipated from August 28 to 30 across Karachi and the broader Sindh region.
