Milward police successfully intercepted a major illegal arms smuggling operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, seizing a large cache of illegal weapons and ammunition.

The operation was conducted under the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal, who had ordered intensified security checks across the district’s checkpoints and roadblocks.

During a special operation led by Station House Officer (SHO) Sajjad Khan and Additional SHO Haroon Khan, a suspicious vehicle was stopped at Akakhel Khwar.

Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered various firearms and magazines, including four M4 rifles, three Kalashnikovs, two 12-bore shotguns, one glock pistol, 51 magazines, 21 safety covers, and thousands of rounds of assorted ammunition.

The suspect, identified as Zarjan, a resident of Madi Khel, was arrested and taken into custody. During initial investigations, the accused confessed to his involvement in illegal arms trade and admitted to supplying these weapons to various parts of the province.

DPO Iqbal stated that the operation against drug dealers, criminals, and smugglers would continue with full force to ensure the safety and security of the region. A case was registered while further investigations are underway.
