Two men poison elder brother to death

Small piece of family land blamed for fratricide

A man was tortured throughput the night by his two younger brothers and then poisoned to death in Mureedke.

The victim died on the way to hospital. A case has been filed against six people, including the two brothers of the deceased, and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

The police said they were making efforts to arrest the suspects

The incident took place in the Kathala village near Sheikhupura Road.

According to the police, a dispute over a small piece of family land resulted in the murder.

An FIR was filed at the Mureedke Police Station on the complaint of the victim's son Qaiser Farooq.

According to the FIR, 50-year-old Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Sheikhupura, had a dispute with his brothers over the division of family land.

Farooq went to his family on Saturday evening, where his younger brothers Gulzar and Shahbaz were already present along with their accomplices. Farooq demanded that they vacate his share of the land.

Following a heated argument, the suspects held their brother hostage throughout and night and beat him with sticks.

When three sons of the victim arrived in their ancestral village after failing to contact him by phone, they found out that Farooq had been taken to a hospital by Rescue 1122 personnel in a critical condition. However, he died on the way.

According to the last statement of the ceased, his brothers had poisoned him after the violence. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family.

The Mureedke police registered a case under sections 302, 147 and 149 against Gulzar, Shahbaz, Zeeshan, Sajjid and two unidentified men on the complaint of Qaiser.

SHO Zahir Alam Shah said teams had been formed to arrest the suspects.

However, local sources said the suspects had fled after locking their homes.
