Jenna Ortega recently revealed the unique way director Tim Burton presented her with the opportunity to star in the highly anticipated Beetlejuice sequel.
While meeting to discuss ideas for the second season of Wednesday, Burton surprisingly placed the Beetlejuice 2 script in Ortega's journal without any explanation.
"I went and met him again and when I went to, you know, open up my journal and present these ideas, he just placed the script of Beetlejuice in my journal. And he didn't tell anyone," she shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "He just said, 'Oh, OK. There's no pressure, Jenna. I think there's a part for you. But again, if you don't want to do it, like, don't.' I just said, 'OK, thanks Tim.'
The young actress, taken aback by the gesture, simply acknowledged Burton's subtle offer. However, just ten minutes after leaving the meeting, Ortega pulled over on the Pacific Coast Highway to read the script. Captivated by the story, she promptly contacted her team to confirm her availability for the project.
Ortega admitted feeling both thrilled and terrified at the prospect of joining the star-studded cast, which includes returning members Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, and Winona Ryder.
Beetlejuice 2 is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival next week, followed by its theatrical release on September 6th.
