Twin earthquakes strike Kashmir region within seven minutes

Muzaffarabad and its surroundings were shaken by two earthquakes that also disrupted internet services in the area

The region of Kashmir and its surroundings were shaken by two earthquakes within 7 minutes, prompting people to come out of their homes reciting the Kalima Tayyiba.

In Hattian Bala, Azad Kashmir, as well as in Hattian Bala, Chinari, and Chakothi, and throughout the Jhelum Valley, a strong tremor was felt.

The intensity of both quakes was recorded at 5.1 magnitude with an epicentre located in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

In Hattian Bala, the earthquake woke up sleeping people, who fled out of their homes reciting the Kalima Tayyiba.

The first tremor in Muzaffarabad was felt at 6:16 PM, and the second tremor at 6:23 PM.

The earthquake also temporarily disrupted internet service in Muzaffarabad.

Tremors were also felt in the districts of Leepa Valley, Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.
