KARACHI:

Pakistan coach Mazhar Hussain has promised a convincing win in the opening encounter against the UAE as the two teams begin their campaign at the 13th Al Rashid International Volleyball Tournament.

The event, which started yesterday, will see the two teams clash today in Dubai. China, Iran, Egypt and Australia are the other participating countries.

According to Hussain, Pakistan have prepared well for the tournament and the six-team event is a step towards the team's next assignment in Iran where they take part in the Asian Men's Senior Volleyball Championship from September 24.

"It's very important for us to do well here," Hussain told The Express Tribune. "We will face the same teams in Iran and this will be good preparation for that tournament. We have a strong squad and we shouldn't have much difficulty in our first match since many of our team members have played at different clubs in Dubai."

Pakistan are currently ranked 68th in the world and 12th in Asia.
