ACP to organise 'World Cultural Festival'

Event scheduled to begin from Sept 26 will attract over 350 artistes from more than 34 countries

The Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) on Saturday announced the launch of the 'World Culture Festival Karachi', scheduled to begin from September 26. The announcement was made during a press conference held at Haseena Moin Hall, where ACP President Ahmed Shah was joined by renowned intellectual Anwar Maqsood, actor and theater director Khalid Ahmed, Prof Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi, and Qudsia Akbar.

Shah revealed that this landmark event would be the largest cultural festival in Pakistan's history, featuring over 350 artistes from more than 34 countries, including Palestine, India, Turkey, the UAE, USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Italy, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Norway, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Ukraine, Oman, Qatar, Zimbabwe, Azerbaijan, France, Uganda, Belarus, Ireland, Kosovo, Burundi, Congo, Rwanda, and others.

The festival will showcase a wide range of cultural performances, including theater, music, dance, and fine arts, representing a fusion of global artistic traditions.

International artistes will also collaborate with local performers in a series of workshops, talks, and community events, aimed at fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Speaking at the presser, Anwar Maqsood expressed hope that this festival, bringing together artistes from around the world, would bring joy and a different experience to the nation.

Theater director Khalid Ahmed echoed this sentiment, saying that the upcoming festival would bring huge learning opportunities for art students, enabling them to gain insights into global perspectives and cultural diversity.
