ISLAMABAD:

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has stated that swift and rigorous accountability of the "ring leader of the anarchist group" was long overdue for his actions aimed at sabotaging national interests.

During a press conference on Thursday, he presented 'irrefutable and glaring' evidence from the investigation into former spy chief Faiz Hameed, which indicated that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was the true mastermind behind the conspiracy against the country.

He highlighted the May 9 arson attacks on sensitive installations and the PTI leadership's letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as clear indicators of this conspiracy.

The minister condemned the actions of the 'group of anarchists,' who were intent on creating chaos and instability.

He welcomed and praised the institution’s decision to hold its former ISI chief accountable under its self-accountability initiative, which he believes should be followed by all institutions.

Referring to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations, he noted that three retired officers had been taken into custody following the investigation of Hameed. The political instability and chaos were reportedly instigated by the PTI founder.

He accused the PTI leader of orchestrating the conspiracy to destabilise the country.

Tarar also suggested that Hameed might have been politically involved, as he attempted to thwart the no-confidence motion against the PTI founder. He emphasised that no one would be allowed to harm national interests for personal gain.

The minister indicated that further arrests could follow the ongoing investigation into anti-state activities. He expressed concern that the PTI founder had distanced himself from these conspiracies despite sending direct messages from jail to continue his negative actions.

Tarar outlined that efforts were underway to prevent further chaos and restore political and economic stability under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
