Banksy reveals new rhino mural in London as part of week-long animal art series
On Monday, renowned street artist Banksy unveiled a striking new mural in London featuring a rhinoceros that appears to be climbing on top of a car.
This latest piece, located in Charlton, southeast London, is the eighth animal-themed artwork the artist has revealed in the past week.
Banksy has been posting daily updates of his new work on his Instagram account since last Monday, with other pieces including elephants, a goat, a wolf, and pelicans.
The newest mural gives the illusion that the rhino is mounting a broken-down car parked in front of a building.
On Sunday, Banksy claimed responsibility for another artwork depicting piranhas on a police box near the Central Criminal Court, known as the Old Bailey.
The fish tank-themed piece quickly attracted a small crowd, prompting the City of London Corporation to consider preservation options.
Earlier in the week, other Banksy pieces appeared across London, including pelicans on the side of a fish shop in Walthamstow and a howling wolf silhouette painted on a satellite dish atop a garage in south London.
The wolf design was reportedly removed the same day it was unveiled, though it remains unclear who took it down.
Banksy, who began his career spray-painting buildings in Bristol, England, has become one of the world's most famous artists.
His works often sell for millions of dollars at auction, and his outdoor murals frequently face the risk of being stolen or removed shortly after they appear.
