Rod Stewart cancels milestone 200th Vegas show, promises 2025 return

Rod Stewart, the iconic rocker, has had to cancel what would have been his 200th show at his Las Vegas residency after contracting strep throat.

The 79-year-old was set to perform at Caesars Palace on Wednesday, August 7, marking the end of a 13-year run at the legendary venue.

However, Stewart broke the news to fans via social media, expressing deep regret over the cancellation.

“I’m desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration,” Stewart wrote in a statement posted on Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long.”

Despite the disappointment, Stewart assured fans that his Vegas residency isn’t over yet.

Hours before announcing the cancellation, he shared an Instagram reel with highlights from his residency, captioning it, “Vegas, I’m having too much fun for this to end so we are coming back for an encore!”

He confirmed that the residency will return in 2025, with shows scheduled for March and June.

Though the milestone Vegas show was canceled, Stewart still has upcoming performances.

He is scheduled to perform at Harvey’s in Lake Tahoe on Friday, August 9, and at Thunder Valley Casino Resort near Sacramento on Saturday, August 10.

Both shows are still on schedule, with venue representatives confirming they are in contact with Stewart’s team.

Stewart has previously spoken about his enduring passion for performing, despite acknowledging the challenges that come with age.

In a July interview with The Sun, he said, “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’ve got no fear. I’m going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can.”
