Kevin Sullivan, a prominent figure in professional wrestling, has died at the age of 74.

Barry Rose, a long-time friend and wrestling personality from Florida, confirmed the news on Friday.

Rose, paying tribute to Sullivan, said: “With the heaviest of hearts, we are devastated to have to report the passing of the legendary Kevin Sullivan. May he rest in peace and his family, friends, and fans find comfort in how much he was loved.”

Earlier this year, Sullivan was involved in a severe accident, leading to emergency surgery. Despite initial recovery efforts, he faced complications, including sepsis and encephalitis, and remained hospitalised as of July. Ric Flair had sent a message of support to Sullivan just the night before his death.

Sullivan was born on October 26, 1949, and began his wrestling career in the early 1970s. He gained prominence in Championship Wrestling from Florida, known for his “Prince of Darkness” persona, which drew inspiration from the Satanic Panic era. Sullivan later returned to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1994, where he engaged in notable feuds, including those with Hulk Hogan. His wrestling career spanned several decades, with his final match occurring in 2019.
