Hunter Schafer, known for her role in Euphoria, has recently addressed her breakup with former partner Dominic Fike in an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Reflecting on their split over a year ago, Schafer revealed that their separation was “a mutually agreed upon” decision, with both acknowledging personal issues that needed addressing.
During the interview with Alex Cooper, Schafer described the breakup as “one of the cleaner breakups I’ve had,” noting that they both recognised it was best to part ways.
She further elaborated on the experience, particularly the impact of being cheated on for the first time. Schafer stated, “It’s part of my truth, but that fundamentally changed me as a person. And it was this whole process of realizing that cheating has nothing to do with you at all.”
Schafer’s relationship with Fike marked significant milestones for her, including her first monogamous relationship and her first relationship with a cisgender man. She acknowledged the unique challenges of being in the public eye and the scrutiny they faced as a couple.
Despite the attention, Schafer appreciated Fike's support, mentioning, “He’s toting me around, happy to be my boyfriend in front of the world. And people are saying horrible, nasty shit because it’s like, ‘Oh, you’re so gay.’ He didn’t care at all.”
In closing, Schafer highlighted the personal growth stemming from the breakup. “It was a clean parting, and he has a lot to work on,” she said. “I also have a lot to work on. I think that’s also why I’m in this era of, I gotta figure my sh*t out.”
