In a standout performance at the Stade de France, Gabby Thomas clinched the gold medal in the women's 200 meters with a time of 21.83 seconds.

Her victory marks the first American win in this event since 2012. Thomas dominated the race from the turn, leaving her competitors far behind and securing her place in American sprinting history.

Thomas’s exceptional speed off the turn ensured she remained unchallenged, with Julien Alfred of St. Lucia falling short of the sprint double. Despite a strong race, Alfred finished in second place.

The race saw Thomas add to her previous bronze medal win in Tokyo, becoming the first American woman to win the event since Allyson Felix.

The 200 meters has seen Jamaican athletes prevail in recent years, but Thomas's victory breaks this trend. Brittany Brown contributed to Team USA's success by earning the bronze medal.

Brown narrowly edged out Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith by just two-hundredths of a second, securing her place on the podium.

This American one-three finish is notable as it mirrors the success seen earlier in the men’s 1,500 meters event at the same venue.
